Modified Design of Two-Switch Buck-Boost Converter to Improve Power Efficiency Using Fewer Conduction Components

In this study, a modified design of two-switch buck-boost (TSBB) converter is proposed to improve power efficiency using fewer conduction components, and the optimal range measured. The TSBB operates in three topologies: buck, boost, buck-boost, like conventional converter. However, improves buck topologies by decreasing loss diode switch-off section while maintaining same number semiconductors as that topology for 10–80 W constant voltage (CV) current (CC) modes; it increases on average 0.75–1.36% 0.83–2.27% CV CC modes, respectively. step-down all modes. This 0.73–0.99% 3.33–4.75% step-up 1.65–2.00% mode. mode, 2.17–2.77% 10–50 W.
